- Devoir écrit (paragraphe[s] à traduire) à rendre le jeudi 6 avril: 20%

- Examen final (entre le mardi 11 et le jeudi 27 avril): 30%

Il est obligatoire d’assister au cours. Si vous devez vous absenter d’une séance, veuillez me le faire savoir d’avance. Academic Dishonesty

The following illustrates only three forms of academic dishonesty:

  1. Plagiarism, e.g. the submission of work that is not one’s own or for which other credit has been obtained.
  2. Improper collaboration in group work.
  3. Copying or using unauthorized aids in tests and examinations.

Email correspondence policy

It is the policy of the Faculty of Humanities that all email communication sent from students to instructors (including TAs), and from students to staff, must originate from each student’s own McMaster University email account. This policy protects confidentiality and confirms the identity of the student.  Instructors will delete emails that do not originate from a McMaster email account.

Modification of course outlines

The University reserves the right to change dates and/or deadlines etc. for any or all courses in the case of an emergency situation or labour disruption or civil unrest/disobedience, etc. If a modification becomes necessary, reasonable notice and communication with the students will be given with an explanation and the opportunity to comment on changes. Any significant changes should be made in consultation with the Department Chair.

Note on Lectures, Course Material and Homework:

This course is very fast-paced and intensive. In order to continue to learn a language and to begin to understand the theory and practice of translation, you must keep up with weekly homework. Any language student must be prepared to do a fair quantity of supplementary research on unfamiliar vocabulary and grammar, so much of your learning must be self-directed. Most students will need to spend a minimum of six hours per week to excel in the course. You will meet in class with your instructor for a total of three hours each week to deal with the material you have prepared for class and for impromptu activities, such as the solving of translation problems and participating in the discussion of exercises related to the new material covered. You should consider these contact hours as essential to your progress and to your ultimate success in the course. In addition, you will need to spend at least three hours per week reviewing the courseware and doing translation exercises. The points to be covered at each lecture will be announced in advance; it is to your advantage to read over and begin studying the material before class. After class, a review of the written exercises from Apprendre à traduire will help you to apply and perfect your learning. It is your responsibility to complete the proposed translations in order to utilize and consolidate your learning and to identify areas that will require further study.
